what do you think?

I am currently reading 'The Comforts of a Muddy Saturday' by Alexander McCall Smith and in this novel McCall Smith poses a question to not only a character but also the reader, the question is:

'what would happen if a mysterious virus was to wipe out everybody older than the age of four, leaving the world to infants and toddlers?... would we learn what everything was for?...or would we have to invent things all over again?... and what about music notation?...would we eventually work out what musical scores meant if we had nothing to base our knowledge on?'

i found this a very interesting question that really made me think, if anyone at all is reading this blog i would love to hear what you think...
